The 37th Day of the Freeze

A brutal cold wave sweeps the world, and Lin Yan leads everyone to retreat to a mountain-hollow shelter. With supplies scarce and illness spreading, desperate survivors keep arriving for help, and she struggles to balance humanitarianism against the hard line of survival. Chen Ye argues for going out to search for supplies, and the two clash again and again. Through a power-outage crisis and an influenza panic, a radio signal from a distant shelter comes through late at night. Enduring the long winter, when spring arrives the expedition team sets out, keeping alive the spark of survival in a hopeless wasteland.
