It tells the story of Zhang Lan, a modern-day livestreamer, who, while broadcasting from a revolutionary memorial hall, dreams her way back to the Jin-Cha-Ji Border Region in 1941. There she meets Zhang Guangcai, an Eighth Route Army correspondent for the Jin-Cha-Ji Daily, and Li Shusheng, a courier. Amid the flames of war, she joins the two soldiers in delivering newspapers, evading Japanese troops, and protecting lead type. She witnesses Li Shusheng heroically sacrifice himself to draw the enemy away and save her, and between life and death she completes the mission of delivering the newspaper. In the end, Zhang Lan returns to the present with a profound understanding of history, completely transforming her flippant attitude toward revolutionary history and evolving from a "traffic-chasing livestreamer" into a "messenger of faith."
