Reclaiming a Lost Love in This Life

Jiang Ying discovers that in the marriage she once took such pride in, she was actually the other woman who destroyed someone else's relationship. Heartbroken and crushed by the disgust and contempt of the male lead, Lu Xiuyuan, Jiang Ying ultimately chooses to end her own life. Time rewinds to five days before her death, just as Xia Ruyan—the younger sister of Lu Xiuyuan's first love—returns from abroad. Harboring feelings for Lu Xiuyuan, Xia Ruyan deliberately uses her sister's name to trip Jiang Ying up and make her back down. Lu Xiuyuan, who never cared about his marriage to Jiang Ying in the first place, takes Xia Ruyan's side at every turn, wounding Jiang Ying again and again. In the end, Xia Ruyan tells Jiang Ying that she was the third party between Lu Xiuyuan and her sister—and that Jiang Ying indirectly caused her sister's death. Shocked and enraged, Jiang Ying chooses to take her own life. Xiuyuan assumes Jiang Ying's disappearance is just a tantrum, paying it no mind and even reveling in being rid of her. Meanwhile, Xia Ruyan makes several attempts to take Jiang Ying's place, all in vain. But Lu Xiuyuan gradually comes to recognize the quiet, enduring love Jiang Ying had for him. When he finally begins searching for her, he learns of her death. Lu Xiuyuan is consumed with regret and reflection, but the departed are gone—his amends and his love have nowhere to go, and he can only live on fragments of memory. Jiang Ying was rescued from her suicide attempt by her senior schoolmate Ye Yunhan and has been living in seclusion in another city. When Xia Ruyan discovers Jiang Ying is still alive, she fears Lu Xiuyuan will find her and reconcile, so she stages a car accident to kill her. Jiang Ying survives by sheer luck, but Lu Xiuyuan also discovers her whereabouts. The joy of finding her again makes Lu Xiuyuan vow to make it up to her—but when Jiang Ying wakes, she has lost her memory, remembering everyone except Lu Xiuyuan. Thus begins Xiuyuan's long journey to win back his wife. Through countless twists and tender moments, the two finally clear up their misunderstandings and reunite.
