A Golden Scale Is No Pond Creature

Hou Longtao, once a streetwise idler, returns with force after making a fortune abroad. His former slacker image is torn away completely as he opens fire on three battlefields at once: business, the workplace, and romance. Beside a luxury car in the night, dressed in a sharp suit, he faces off against an intellectual beauty with an utterly transformed presence. Power and desire swell in tandem; the women around him shift from playthings to allies, and from allies to more secret possessions. The golden scale leaves the pond—no longer a creature confined to it. As his commercial empire expands, he also claims territory in body and emotion.
